ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE:
ROLE IN SMART AND IOT PROJECTS

Definitions

Artificial intelligence (AI) is a set of technologies that enable computers to perform a range of advanced functions, including the ability to see, understand and translate spoken and written language, analyze data, make suggestions, and autonomously change operating or production cycles.
At the operational level for business use, AI is a set of technologies based primarily on machine learning and deep learning, used for data analysis, prediction, object categorization, natural language processing, hints, intelligent data retrieval and more.

The Role

AI has become increasingly important in the IoT domain to automate daily tasks and improve the efficiency of systems in the IoT environment.
One of the most fascinating uses is to create machine learning models that can be used to improve the performance of IoT devices, enhance user safety. Using AI, IoT devices can detect anomalies or suspicious activities by reporting them promptly to users. In addition, AI can be used to optimize energy use, reduce costs, and increase the battery life of IoT devices.

The Machine Learning opportunities

The use of Machine Learning and other learning techniques underlying Artificial Intelligence will play an increasing role, the range of traditional services will be expanded by integrating new logic that can meet-and in many cases anticipate-the needs of businesses and consumers. Information generated by network-connected components and sensors, ealborated by AI algorithms will be able to generate advanced and predictive analytics.

Artificial Intelligence Techniques.
  • Machine learning: machine learning is an artificial intelligence technique that enables IoT devices to learn and improve their performance. Machine learning uses algorithms to analyze data collected from IoT sensors and identify patterns and correlations.
  • Neural networks: neural networks are a type of artificial intelligence algorithm inspired by how the human brain works and are able to learn from data and identify patterns and correlations.
  • Genetic algorithms: principles inspired by the theory of evolution are used in this area to solve complex problems. Genetic algorithms can be used to improve the energy efficiency of IoT devices. They use a generational approach, similar to natural reproduction, to find an optimal solution to a specific problem
  • Natural language recognition: ‘Natural language processing, or NLP (Natural Language Processing), is a branch of artificial intelligence (AI) that enables computer systems to understand, interpret, control and comprehend human language.
  • Image analysis: image analysis is an artificial intelligence technique that enables IoT devices to analyze and interpret images. Image analysis can be used to improve the monitoring capability of IoT devices, the range of applications is very wide: industry, retail, telemedicine, automotive, object recognition, biometrics, smart cameras for video surveillance, motion tracking.
